End of Life Companion (Bradford Royal Infirmary)

The End of Life Companion role aims to provide a social and emotional presence and companionship for patients and those important to them as they approach the end of their life.

The role will mainly be supporting people: • who are felt to be in the last days of their life. • who are identified by the palliative care team as likely to be in the last hours and days of life. • dying patients whose personal circumstances mean they either have no close family or friends, family who need to leave the hospital environment meaning the person is alone or whose close circles are either too distant or situationally unable to be present with them.

This is a patient facing role, volunteering across adult wards on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site.
