Oncology Day Unit Support Volunteer (Eccleshill Community Hospital)
We have a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the experience of those patients at our Chemotherapy Day Case Unit at Eccleshill Community Hospital.
These patients are already going through an anxious time and we are looking for volunteers who will provide a warm and friendly welcome to the unit, listening and talking to patients. The Oncology Day Unit Support Volunteers must be able to show compassion and empathy but also be aware of their own limits and when to escalate to clinical members of the team.
We are especially interested in volunteers who may have skills in holistic therapies, however there are multiple tasks for volunteers to be involved with should they not be qualified in this area. For example, chatting with patients, helping with refreshments, help with information packs, and assisting with the conditioning of patients hair who wish to have a cold cap.
This is an extremely rewarding volunteer role, where you will be in direct contact with patients at our Chemotherapy Day Case Unit at Eccleshill Community Hospital.
